In addition to our Fab 4, our vineyard team is comprised of many hard-working, dedicated men and women with whom we are very proud to work. No company can be great without great people, and the tremendous commitment and work ethic of our vineyard team makes them one of the most valuable assets of our company.

    Winery Crew

    Joined Scheid:
It is often said that it takes a lot of beer to make great wine. It also takes a lot of good people to drink the beer, because winemaking is nothing if not a team effort. Our winery crew pictured to the left is comprised of:  Ralph Mendez, General Manager of Winery Operations, a 50+-year veteran of the wine industry; Vincent Catalaa, Winemaker, a native of France with a notable palate; Dave Nagengast, Director of Winemaking, the guy we call the "gentle giant"; Jess Hogg, our Quality Assurance Manager, who moonlights as the swim coach at Soledad High School; Marta Kraftzeck, Winemaker, a 35+-year wine industry veteran and the first woman winemaker in Monterey County; Pete Garibay, the guy who keeps everything running as our Equipment Operations Manager; and Shane Green, Winemaker, who started his winemaking career with Mondavi.

In addition to this mighty force, we employee a core group of employees on our cellar team that are dedicated, experienced and focused on crafting the best wines possible.

    FAVORITE SCHEID WINE:
Seriously? That’s like being asked to choose your favorite child.

    FAVORITE AL-ISM:
“You need to bring something more to the table than your appetite.”
